Navigating Petfinder AKA How to look for your own pet!!

Hi again everyone!

This post will be about how to find your own pet. If you are interested in a dog or cat or any kind of animal, we recommend you look on Petfinder. Here's what you would do. Open a new tab and type in"petfinder", and then hit enter. Click on the first link, but avoid anything that has the word "ad" next to it. You should arrive at the home screen of Petfinder. It has a lot of purple. Let's say you live in California, and want to find a dog there. There should be a box on your screen where it says "enter city, state, or zip". Click on that, and then type in your town, city, state, or zip code. For example, I would type in "California", and then hit enter. Now, a drop-down box might appear with cities and towns in California, but I'm just going to ignore it and hit enter. Your screen will not change. Next to where you entered California will be other boxes with "find a dog", "find a cat", and "find other pets".  For example, I will click on "find a dog". It should bring you to a place that had some photos of dogs or whatever animal you would like, some boxes on the left side that let you select a breed, an age, a size, a gender of your dog, etc, and at the top, there should be a number. Mine right now says 423 dogs, and next to that number should be a number for miles. Mine is 100, and then it has your state or city, mine saying near California. So, let's say I want to find a dog anywhere in California. I would go up to where it says 100 miles, click on it, and some choices of miles should appear. There should be 10 miles, 25 miles, 50 miles, 100 miles, and then anywhere. I'm going to click on anywhere. So the filter is now applied, and I can search for my dog anywhere in California. If you want a certain dog, like if you want a female dog, go to the left with all the choices and filters saying breed, color, etc, and click on gender. It should change from any to female. If you don't care what gender then leave the box alone. You can do this for the other filters, like breed, age, size, gender, color, etc. So now I can scroll down the options of dogs, and if I find one that I like, I click on it. For example, I find a dog named Blair, and I click on Blair's profile. It will bring me to her profile, and all the information I need on Blair. She's an adult female, a pit bull terrier mix, and she's located in Clovis, CA. So the information on Blair is all there, and it also states where Blair is located, and which adoption center she is in. So if I click on what adoption center our dog is in, it will bring me to a page about the adoption center. Let's say you like this dog and want to adopt it. Click on the adoption form application for that adoption center, or you could call the shelter and ask about the animal you would like. I hope this was helpful, and I hope you consider adopting a pet and giving it a forever home.
